10 Day Kenya Safari

10-day Kenya safari itinerary, which includes visits to Nairobi National Park, Elephant Sanctuary, Giraffe Sanctuary, a Crescent Island Walking Safari, and safaris in Maasai Mara and Amboseli National Park. This trip offers a mix of wildlife, nature, and cultural experiences while visiting some of Kenya’s most iconic locations.
Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi
• Arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi.
• Transfer to your accommodation in Nairobi.
• Depending on your arrival time, you can explore Nairobi:
o Visit the David Sheldrick Elephant Sanctuary to see orphaned elephants being fed and playing in the mud.
o Visit the Giraffe Centre in Lang'ata to interact with the endangered Rothschild giraffes.
• Enjoy a relaxing evening and overnight stay in Nairobi.
Day 2: Nairobi National Park Safari
• After breakfast, head to Nairobi National Park (15-minute drive from Nairobi city center).
o Enjoy a morning game drive in the park, which is unique for being situated next to a bustling city.
o Spot lions, giraffes, buffaloes, warthogs, and various bird species with the Nairobi skyline as a backdrop.
• In the afternoon, enjoy lunch in Nairobi and explore the city at your leisure.
• Optional visit to Karen Blixen Museum or Nairobi Railway Museum.
• Return to your accommodation for the evening.
Day 3: Elephant Sanctuary & Giraffe Centre
• After breakfast, head back to the David Sheldrick Elephant Sanctuary to witness the elephants' feeding and mud-bath playtime (if not done on Day 1).
• Visit the Giraffe Centre for another close encounter with the Rothschild giraffes.
• Afterward, drive to Lake Naivasha (approximately 2-2.5 hours).
• Check-in to your lodge and enjoy an afternoon at leisure.
• Option for a boat safari on Lake Naivasha to see hippos and birds such as flamingos.
• Overnight at your lodge near Lake Naivasha.
Day 4: Crescent Island Walking Safari
• After breakfast, head to Crescent Island (a short boat ride or drive from Naivasha).

Day 5: Maasai Mara Game Drive – optional Balloon safari
• After breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive in Maasai Mara, one of Kenya's most famous wildlife reserves.
o Maasai Mara is home to the Big Five (lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and rhinos) and offers an unforgettable safari experience.
o Depending on the season, you may witness the Great Migration, with thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles crossing the Mara River.
• Return to your lodge for lunch and some relaxation.
• In the late afternoon, head out for a game drive to spot more wildlife, particularly predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas.
• Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Maasai Mara – Full Day Safari
• Spend the full day in Maasai Mara with two game drives (morning and afternoon).
o Explore different parts of the reserve, including the Seronera Valley and the Mara River (depending on your timing).
o Look for lions on the hunt, and enjoy the vast landscapes dotted with wildlife.
o Picnic lunch in the reserve to fully immerse yourself in the wilderness.
• Optional: Visit a Maasai village in the afternoon to learn about their culture, traditions, and their relationship with the land and wildlife.
• Evening return to the lodge for a delicious dinner.
Day 7: Maasai Mara to Amboseli National Park
• After breakfast, drive to Amboseli National Park (approx. 5-6 hours), known for its stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro and large elephant herds.
• Check-in at your accommodation in Amboseli.
• Afternoon game drive in Amboseli to see its rich wildlife, including elephants, cheetahs, giraffes, and buffaloes, all against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Day 8: Amboseli National Park Safari
• Full-day safari in Amboseli National Park.
o Early morning game drive to see elephant herds and other wildlife at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro.

o Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park or return to the lodge.

Day 9: Amboseli to Nairobi
• After breakfast, take a morning game drive in Amboseli before beginning your journey back to Nairobi (approx. 4-5 hours).
o Arrive in Nairobi by early afternoon.
o Enjoy a quiet evening at your lodge
Day 10: Departure
• After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
o Depending on your flight time, you can explore Nairobi, visit Kazuri Beads (a fair trade pottery company), or shop at Maasai Market for souvenirs.

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi

  • Transfer to your accommodation in Nairobi for check-in and relaxation.
  • Depending on your arrival time, you can visit some of Nairobi's cultural and wildlife highlights, such as:
    • David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Elephant Sanctuary – Visit the sanctuary where you can watch orphaned elephants being fed and playing in the mud. This is a great opportunity to learn about elephant conservation.
    • Giraffe Centre – Visit the Giraffe Centre in Lang'ata, where you can interact with the endangered Rothschild giraffes and learn about their conservation efforts.

Day 2: Nairobi National Park Safari

  • After breakfast, head out to Nairobi National Park (only about 15 minutes from the city center).
    • Enjoy a morning game drive in the park, which is famous for being the only national park in the world located within a major city.
    • The park is home to lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, warthogs, and a variety of bird species.
    • Enjoy the unique backdrop of Nairobi’s skyline with animals grazing in the park.
  • Lunch in Nairobi, then head to your next stop:
    • Optional: Visit the Karen Blixen Museum or explore Nairobi's local markets for souvenirs.
  • Return to your accommodation in Nairobi for the night.

Day 3: Elephant Sanctuary & Giraffe Centre

  • Breakfast and morning visit to the David Sheldrick Elephant Sanctuary.
    • Watch the baby elephants being fed and playing in the mud. Learn about the work done to rescue and rehabilitate orphaned elephants.
  • Afterward, visit the Giraffe Centre to interact with the endangered Rothschild giraffes and feed them.
    • Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant or within the sanctuary grounds.
  • In the afternoon, drive to Lake Naivasha (approx. 2-2.5 hours) and check-in at your accommodation.

Day 4: Crescent Island Walking Safari

Day 5: Maasai Mara Game Drive

  • After breakfast, go on a full-day game drive in Maasai Mara.

    • Depending on the season, you may witness the Great Migration, where millions of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles move across the Mara River.

Day 6: Maasai Mara – Hot Air Balloon Safari and Village Visit

  • Early morning hot air balloon safari (optional): Enjoy a sunrise hot air balloon ride over the Maasai Mara. This experience offers a bird’s-eye view of the wildlife and landscape as you float above the savannah. After the flight, enjoy a champagne breakfast in the bush.
  • Game drive in the morning to explore more of the Mara’s wildlife.

Day 7: Maasai Mara to Nairobi – Departure

  • Later, depart for Nairobi (approx. 5-6 hours drive) with a lunch stop along the way.
    • Alternatively, you can opt for a scheduled flight from Maasai Mara to Nairobi (this option can save time).
  • Depending on your departure time, you may have a brief stop at Gikambura or a nearby artisan market before heading to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your flight home.
